On behalf of the Gateway team, we welcome all to view our campus website! I am Patricia A. Alford campus Administrator. My personal life entails gardening; tutoring elementary students and helping disabled adults get connected to community resources. I am active in my church and I enjoy reading suspense novels.
I joined the Bastrop ISD team in December of 2012 as the Principal of the Gateway DAEP (Disciplinary Alternative Education Program). I’m very excited about the District’s conviction to build strong community partnerships and to make a positive impact on all students!
The Texas legislature established a policy in 1995 requiring school districts to have an “alternative educational setting for behavioral management.”Students can be removed from their school and sent to the alternative program if they: Engage in conduct punishable as a felony. Commit a series of specified serious offenses while on school property or attending a school-sponsored activity. Commit other violations specified in student “codes of conduct” developed by individual school districts.
We have qualified faculty and staff committed to supporting all students. Our main goal is to continue to work diligently at providing our students with support in the area of social skills and academic needs. Over the past 35 years I have worked in various fields ranging from education, social service programs, both community volunteering and advocacy as well as for state and county agencies such as CPS and juvenile probation.
In my current role as principal, our team members are dedicated to servicing students and families while working diligently toward providing tools and guidance in the area of building good character. We are on board with reaching for excellence in all areas and excited about our district goals! I look forward to this upcoming school year! Please feel free to contact me if you have questions!
